This year's autumn tour organized by the Arts festival of North Norway is the result of a strong collaboration with the Samovartheatre and the Arctic Culture Center . This in line with the festival's desire for closer cooperation with the cultural life of the region.
The Arts festival of North Norway invites Kristin Asbjørnsen to Finnmark, in a concert performance with the sami artist Elle Marja Eira, and texts by Ingeborg Arvola.
The award-winning author Ingeborg Arvola, originally from Honningsvåg, has written new lyrics performed by actor Jan Egil Egnes. The lyrics binds the two different departments of the concert together, where Asbjørnsens music, heavily influenced by the african-american, dialoging with and in contrast to Eiras musical roots in the sami.
The theme of the show is the province and metropolis. What happens when the local meets the global? Is it possible to live in Northern Norway and have a career in the world? Performing artist and founder of Samovar, Bente S. Andersen, is the director of the production.Asbjørnsen, who previously starred in Dadafon, brings Olav Torget (guitar), Rune Arnesen (drums) and Gjermund Silset (bass) on the tour, and Eira brings guitarist Morten Petersen.
The concert will premiere in the new theater house (Samovar) in Kirkenes on the 16th of October. Then they proceed on to Vadsø on the 17th of October, before the tour ends in Hammerfest on the 18th of October.
