”To be in the far north” is a performance that invites you to the Arctic to experience the impact of the elements upon our bodies. Maja Skogstad, a masters student from the Higher College of Education in Oslo and Akershus welcomes us on board the schooner Anna Rogde which will be moored on the quay outside the Kulturhus.
In the Arctic wilderness how do I confirm my existence? Here, the boundary between humanity and nature disappears – "To be in the far north" is a performance built upon ecological philosophy.
On board Anna Rogde we will relive an Austrian artist´s account of a winter spent on Svalbard in 1934 - a scenic, visual an aural experience. We guarantee a theatrical production you have never witnessed before – a beautiful, thought provoking creative landscape charting our relationship with nature.
- The festival has a profound relevance for me as an arena, because it takes place in northern Norway, which is my home. After many years of study in Norway and England I get the chance to give something back to a place where I have had so many exciting experiences, amongst others at NUK++. Hopefully it will open doorways to pursue future artistic projects. Through the language of art I seek to touch the entire person, states student Maja Skogstad.
The performance will run on both Wednesday and Thursday at 11am and 1:15 pm.
