A Breathing Space concert with young, breathtaking southern Samí talent Marja Helena Fjellheim Mortensson and Festival Profile Artist Georg Buljo.
This gifted Joiker from Engerdal in Hedmark gained huge attention when she was crowned "Young Artist of the Year" after her debut at Riddu Riđđu Festivàla in the summer of 2014. The 20 year old created a stir with both her music and an impressive stage presence. Both Georg Buljo and Festival producer James Clapperton witnessed this event. They shared a sense that a star was born.
Marja Helena´s songs are a personal ode to nature, and a plea to respect our fellow creatures, as well as part of a struggle to foreground encroaching threats towards Samí ways of life. A lynchpin of Marja Helena´s mission is her commitment to ensuring the survival of the southern Samí language. Marja Helena has also performed for His Majesty the King and the Sametinget. In the Autumn of 2014 she joiked her way into the hearts of a world audience when she performed at the Migration Music Festival in Tawain´s capital Taipei.
It will be both inspiring and moving to see a light of tomorrow and our Festival Profile Georg Buljo join forces.
