A workshop for children and youths who collect photos and create a spoof historical photo book entitled: ”Our home in the future: 2016 - 2116”.
During the workshop: ”Our home: 2016 - 2116” the participants will enter a fantasy world filled with creative stories inspired by visual imagery and be encouraged to invent their own creative stories based upon collected photos. The participants will put together a little book with photos they find, and will work with the link between factual history and fantasy. Through tests and experiments they will gain an understanding of how such a collection of photography can create larger stories and histories.
The theme of this workshop will be: "Our home 2016 - 2116". The participants will look at their own daily life and hopes for their town in the future. Each participant will pick a year between 2016 and 2116 as a starting point and will work on a new story based upon this particular year. (For example: “Harstad 2042 – the town has been developed into a huge greenhouse and looks like a grand park”, or "Harstad 2116 – the town has been invaded by alien beings who live in harmony with the locals").
Children and the young are one of our most important resources, after all they are the ones who know what it is like to grow up today, and are the experts in how things are going to look in the future. When children and the young get to take part in the planning and thinking about this town´s development then good ideas are bound to arise about the way ahead, creative and wonderful ideas which we, as adults can learn from.
