Okkultationer (DK)

One of this year's UiT scholarships has been awarded to Ingrid Søgaard, a student at the Art Academy, UiT Tromsø. She experiments with materials and techniques in her artistic work.
Okkultationer is an installation where one can reflect – and forget time and place.

A dark room. Something on the floor rotates softly. What moves doesn’t seem to be in a hurry. Luminous shapes that slowly change color as they change position. Celestial bodies dance with themselves and each other.

The constellations on the vault of the universe appear to be static. Yet a visible shift occurs if we look long enough. Movements in space take place hour after hour, even when the sky is too bright for us to see. On the one hand, we understand it, on the other hand, it seems completely incomprehensible.

Here in the darkness, you can just be. Reflect. Perhaps you forget time and place, while the colors change and the objects rotate.
