Faith, doubt and inheritance
The performance is rooted in individual positions and family histories, with references to, among other things, Laestadianism, nature-based belief, song and sacrifice. What does faith mean today? Is the need for belief and meaning something we carry within us – perhaps even in our blood? The audience is invited to listen, take part and reflect.
Music, ritual and northern perspectives
The performance includes processions and rituals, accompanied by newly composed music by and with HerborgRundberg and Alexander Kostopulos. It moves at the intersection of culture, genetics and identity, with Sámi perspectives as a central point of reference.
An unconventional performance in a church space
Blod & tro – en blodstjeneste is part of Ferske Scener’s series Blodklubb; a club for everyone who has blood – where the club’s activities can be experienced independently of one another. Blodklubb is an unpredictable meeting place in which each evening has its own form and dramaturgy. Here, art, reflection and community are brought together in a framework that may recall a church service – while playfully engaging with symbols and traditions from a range of religious and secular rituals.
Blodklubb was founded by the artists Sigbjørn Skåden, Kristin Bjørn, Kristina Junttila and Bernt Bjørn, and the project is supported by Norsk kulturråd, Tromsø kommune, Troms fylkeskommune and Rådstua teaterhus.
This performance is for you if you:
- are curious about faith, doubt and belief systems – even without being religious
- are interested in Northern Norwegian and Sámi culture and history
- are looking for an alternative festival experience in a church setting
