Cavalcade en Cocazie (FR)

Cavalcade en Cocazie (FR)

A wild and playful journey through the Caucasus – for curious ears aged 6 and upwards.

Who is Rédèr Nouhaj? No one quite knows. Perhaps he comes from a mountain forest in the Caucasus. Perhaps from a dusty plain far away. In Cavalcade en Cocazie, multi-instrumentalist Frédéric Jouhannet opens the notebook from his imaginary travels and invites the whole family on a musical expedition.

Alone on stage, he conjures an entire orchestra. With violins, bass drum, pedal-powered accordion and small resonant objects, he builds rhythms and melodies layer upon layer. His hands play, his feet work, his body is in constant motion. It is virtuosic, energetic and brimming with invention.

Music that speaks without words

Rédèr Nouhaj says nothing – it is the music that speaks. Traditional melodies from the Caucasus meet improvisation and new sonic textures. Jouhannet has developed his own instruments, including an eight-string violin that produces a powerful, trembling sound. Masks and costumes, crafted from recycled materials, give the performance a visual and almost fairytale-like quality.

This is a concert performance in which children can be swept away by rhythms and curious instruments, while adults can immerse themselves in musical finesse and richness of sound. A sensory and imaginative experience that resonates across generations.

This performance is for you if you:

  • would like to take your children or grandchildren to a different kind of concert
  • are curious about rhythmic folk music and inventive instruments
  • enjoy stage works that combine music, movement and visual elements
