Through a mentoring scheme and targeted facilitation, Halvard Damm Laupstad from Trondheim, Kris-Stian Klausen from Harstad and Mikael Rene Fredriksen from Tromsø have developed and challenged their forms of expression. Here, both inner and outer worlds emerge through detailed drawings, bold fields of colour and motifs that hold humour, seriousness and an infectious urge to create.
About the three artists
Kris-Stian Klausen, aged 32, has been drawing since lower secondary school and has exhibited at venues including Trastad Samlinger, Harstad Town Hall and Grytøy Bygdetun.
Mikael Rene Fredriksen, aged 26, has been drawing and painting since he was little, has had several exhibitions, including at the International Museum of Children’s Art in Oslo, and has made his mark at UKM a number of times.
Halvard Damm Laupstad, aged 41, has been drawing for the past two years and held the exhibition Nothing Special this autumn, with his drawings shown throughout the city of Trondheim.
Excellent Talent is also a response to the question of what can happen when talent receives the right support and artists are able to work with focus over time.
This exhibition is for you if you:
- are curious about new voices in Norwegian contemporary art
- want to experience strong, personal expressions in drawing and painting
- care about inclusion and the power of art to open up spaces
