Linocut is a relief printing method where you first carve your motif into a linoleum block. Printing ink is then applied before the motif is transferred to paper. The result is clear contrasts, strong forms and a graphic expression that artists have used for more than a hundred years.
In this course, we will work with the theme of urban life and urban architecture. Perhaps you will be inspired by houses, streets, windows or the small details of the town? The instructors will guide participants through the entire process – from idea and sketch to finished print.
Beginner-friendly workshop
The course lasts three hours and is well suited to anyone who is curious about printmaking but has not tried it before. You will learn basic techniques and work practically throughout.
The workshop is led by Bjørn Jakobsen, Kåre Solheim and Lena Bergstad, all associated with Harstad Kunstforening. Together, they will create an inclusive and inspiring workshop where participants can explore the technique at their own pace.
The printmaking workshop takes place at Kunstens Hus, where Harstad Kunstforening has its studios.
This workshop is for you if you:
- are curious about printmaking and want to learn linocut
- enjoy hands-on work and exploring art techniques
- want to try a creative course with clear guidance
