Second Nature is the result of a new collaboration between Håvard Stubø, Isak Gjertsen and the Nordic jazz group Jazz & Fly Fishing. Isak Gjertsens amazing animations combined with supreme new jazz makes this performance one of the most exciting new productions, for larger kids, youth and adults.
In Second Nature, a jazz quartet plays in dialogue with the visuals created by an animator. The performance combines live music, film and animation in new, exciting and unexpected ways. The visuals in the show is figurative, while the music is best described a melodic, catchy and groovy jazz music.
The visual narrative addresses humanity's complicated role in nature: As humans completely dependant of exploiting nature's resources, while at the same time part of nature and need to strive for sustainability between humans and nature. In Second Nature we become acquainted with a number of Nordic animals, and follow them in their existential struggle against both natural elements and the unfortunate consequences of human civilisation, such as plastic in the oceans and issues with marine farming.
