PREMIERE
Norwegian music history is full of lullabies. However, there are no goodnight songs dealing with falling asleep in a night where the sun shines - lullabies for children in the midnight sun. The Arctic Arts Festival have therefore initiated a larger collaborative project where a number of northern artists and writers write brand new goodnight songs for the children of the north.
Artists from all over northern Norway have participated in the project. In addition, Johan Airijoki from Gällivare (Sweden) and Marja Helena Fjellheim Mortensson from Hedmark contributes. The collaboration has resulted in 17 all-new lullabies in Norwegian, Northern Sami, South Sami and English, with many of the North's finest artists participating. Solnatt – Beaiveidja is released digitally by the indie record label Mano Music.
Goodnight songs have been written and sung as long as children have been put to bed the evening. We remember the lullabies, carry them with us throughout life, and transfer them to the next generation. They represent both something personal, but also something universal and eternal. With this backdrop, we look forward to a magnificent concert in Storsalen, with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra, bands and a variety of artists.
This is a release concert, and exclusive copies of the CD with an attached songbook will be available for purchase at the venue.
Join us for a celebration of the North in the midnight sun!
