An essential and cherished part of the Festspillene vibe every year is when the Norwegian Army Band parades to Generalhagen and presents a park concert.
The Norwegian Army Band is located in Harstad, and is the oldest professional wind orchestra in Northern Norwa, dating back to 1911. The band has 29 professional musicians who performs all over Northern Norway. The Band is known for its wide ranges of genres – from classical music to pop, jazz and rock.
The band parades approximately 11:35 from the harbour area and will begin their park concert at 12:00 in Generalhagen.
In this first festival park concert in Generalhagen, the band has chosen some summery tunes from neighboring countries.
Swedish, Danish, Russian and Finnish works will be on today's program.
