Premiere
What do you think of when you are face to face with the ocean?
Ekko Ekko is a nomadic, social and interdisciplinary exhibition that in summer gathers impressions from coastal areas in northern Norway and Sápmi. Large parts of the ocean are still unexplored. Together with the audience, the artists want to break the ocean's surface and marvel at the marine organisms as well as the sea's alternating importance as a resource, abode, myth and phenomenon.
The exhibition is a collage of materials from the journey, underwater videos, sculptures, drawings, as well as social events such as communal dining.
You can follow the collective's travel blog from Brønnøysund via Selvær and Engeløya to Harstad at www.ekkoekko.no.
Festspillene i Nord-Norge awards two emerging artists stipents each year to support development of new voices in the field of theater, dance, film, visual art and music. The stipent is tied to development of projects that have their premier during the festival each year. This years projects are Ekko Ekko and Jorden hvisker til deg (The Earth Whispers to You).
