Powerful and dynamic music at the intersection of joik and Americana - straight from the heart.
Arvvas is back to Festspillene - and based on his latest album "Dás Dál", bassist and singer Steinar Raknes together with joiker Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska deliver new songs that contain great contrasts, both musically and lyrically.
The festival concert in 2018 was completely sold out, so securing tickets early is wise.
Unique universe
The duo's music alternates between lyrical, beautiful moods and and rock grooves, between humor and melancholy. Together they have created a unique musical universe, delivered straight from the heart. PS! Arvvas is a Northern Sami word that means to work from the heart, to have energy. Something that is clear in the interaction between these two.
Musical excursion
Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska is a world-class Sami joiker who masters both the ancient and modern techniques of joiking. She had her breakthrough with the group Adjágas, and has also produced several solo projects.
Steinar Raknes is known as one of Norway's leading double bass players, and as a singer and songwriter in his vocal project Stillhouse. He collaborated for many years with the joike queen Inga Juuso in the duo Skáidi, of which Arvvas is the successor.
As reviewer Tor Hammerø says: The duo Arvvas, i.e. joiker Sara Marielle Gaup and bassist and vocalist Steinar Raknes, invite you on an excursion that is both exciting, different and inspiring.
