NUK – New Young Art is a cultural festival for young people from all over Northern Norway. It takes place annually and, in 2024, it will run from June 22 to June 29.
As a participant, you'll have the opportunity to engage in various artistic workshops of your choice, working alongside experienced artists and educators to create music, dance, theater, photography, or other forms of art. Workshops are held during the day, while the evenings are free for concerts, performances, or just hanging out with fellow participants. Each day is planned with a clear schedule for workshop time and free time.
Eligibility and Application:
- Youth aged 14-20 are eligible to apply.
- Special arrangements are available for individuals with disabilities aged 14-40.
- Applications are processed based on the information provided by the applicants and the overall group composition. The first round of application review happens between May 2 and May 9; applications must be submitted by April 30 to be considered in this round.
- If you do not get your first or second choice of workshop, you will be contacted to find a suitable alternative. There is also a waiting list in case workshops are full.
Accommodation and Leisure:
- All participants can stay at a school in Harstad, which serves as the festival’s main base for all meals and leisure activities outside the workshops. The school has a 24-hour staffed secretariat, ensuring safety and support throughout the stay.
- Participants can choose to arrange their own accommodation if they prefer.
Cost and Benefits:
- The participation fee for 2024 is 1500 NOK per person. If you register before April 30, you receive a 50% discount, reducing the fee to 750 NOK.
- This fee includes daily meals, accommodation, workshops, creative materials (like costumes, paint, makeup), a NUK sweater, free entry to festival concerts and events (subject to availability), and possible free transport during the festival week.
- Participants under 20 residing in Northern Norway can apply for travel support for expenses over 1000 NOK, up to a maximum of 5000 NOK.

- NUK is a drug-free event. The use of alcohol and other drugs is prohibited, and violations will result in being sent home at one's own expense.
