The title conjures up visions of endless expanse, and sheds light upon art´s symbolic capacity for revealing civilization´s ebb and flow. The festival exhibition 2015 contains work by art collective AES+F from Russia, Martin Gustavsson from Sweden plus Trygve Luktvasslimo and Kjell Varvin from Norway. The exhibition´s curator is Joakim Borda who has also been responsible for "Pioneer Voices" in 2013 and "Paradise Reclaimed" in 2014.

Joakim Borda promises several premieres during this year´s festival exhibition. Kjell Varvin presents a completely new installation at the Arts Festival of North Norway. It is exciting that Nordland artist Trygve Luktvasslimo has received support from the Norwegian Arts Council for a new work to be presented in the same exhibition. Sweden´s Martin Gustavsson for his part, takes up the opportunity of exploring the architecture of Galleri Nord Norge through his abstract and figurative paintings. The exhibition is also a Norwegian premiere for the russian arts group AES+F.

AES + F
AES + F is a russian arts collective  comprising of Tatiana Aramazova (b. 1955), Lev Evzovich (b. 1958), Evgeny Svyatsky (b. 1957) and Vladimir Fridkes (b. 1956) who mainly work with video and photography. They are known for their extremely polarised aesthetic and are considered to be amongst Russia´s most forward looking international artists after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. They have appeared at the Venice Biennale, Tate Britain in London, Moderna museet in Stockholm, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, Centre George Pompidou in Paris, MACRO in Roma, and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

Martin Gustavsson
Martin Gustavsson (b. 1964) is Swedish but has been based in London in recent decades. He has devoted his entire artistic career to examining the condition of art and its history. He teaches at the  Kunstakademiet in Umeå and has recently exhibited at the Gothenburg Art Museum, Museum of Modern Art in London, Oslo kunstforening, Maria Stenfors Gallery in London and Galerie Crone in Berlin.

Trygve Luktvasslimo
Trygve Luktvasslimo (b. 1978) comes originally from Vefsn in Nordland. He belongs to a younger generation of northern Norwegian artists who after living for some years abroad have returned home to contribute to the cultural life of their own village. He works across several disciplines but often with performance and video. He has established a strong reputation through his exhibitions and projects in Northern Norway, among others an exhibition to mark the opening of the culture centre Stormen in Bodø. 

Kjell Varvin
Kjell Varvin (b.1936) has roots in Narvik. He works with sculpture and painting in installation form. Varvin studied at the State Arts and Crafts School (SHKS) and longer periods of study followed in Barcelona and Paris. Varvin gave his debut in 1964 in Spain and has since then enjoyed many exhibitions across the whole of Europe. He is considered one of the most foremost adherents of Norwegian conceptual art, earlier associated with international artistic movements which began in the 1960´s. Movements such as Arte Povera in Italy and minimalism in the USA. For the Festival Exhibition 2015 he will present an exclusive site specific sculpture installation which refers to works from his entire output.
