Director and dramatist Lennart Lidström, the man behind, amongst other things Oluf and Den fordømte nordlendingen (The condemned northerner) is united with Kristian Fr. Figenschow jr. in this performance where humour and darkest tragedy go hand in hand. A world premiere from Hålogaland Theatre!
In this monologue we come to know Peter Wessel Zapffe – philosopher, author, environmentalist and climbing enthusiast. Zapffe is an important figure in Tromsø´s cultural history and his stories mirror the city´s own tale. Nevertheless, he is also a well known name beyond the country´s borders.
Zapffe´s thoughts about humanity – our lives, and his own existence – are shaped by a sense of pessimism. But like everything else he devoted himself to, he lightens deep thoughts with a great deal of humour. As Lennart Lidström says: «Humour is dependent upon profound seriousness, and its complete opposite».
The monologue Zapffe recieves its world premiere at the Arctic Arts Festival in 2016. Zapffe has received support from Sparebank1 Nord-Norge.
