At last, Ane Brun is coming back to the Arctic Arts Festival! This time she returns with an even more rhythmic, intense and dynamic programme.
We get to hear a legend in Norwegian pop history in Harstad Kulturhus and an artist who is in her own class as a pop singer. But Ane Brun is still a Molde lass with a guitar who sings with breathtaking beauty. These intimate lyrics will touch our hearts.
The solo album ”When I’m Free” which was released last Autumn has enjoyed rave reviews from both the national and international media. Brun has further developed her rhythmic touch, an approach which was central to her earlier album, ”It All Starts With One” (2011). On the latest album we hear her in a more extrovert and dynamic guise than before.
- ”When I’m Free” is pure grown up pop – sophisticated, thoughtful, and well articulated through music and words. It has the sound and aura of a lavish production from the 1980´s when music had enough time and resources to perfect releases, writes the newspaper VG who awarded it a top «throw of the dice» 6.
Following this release Brun toured around Bodø, Oslo, Stavanger and Bergen and had a winter European tour with concerts in Paris, Berlin and London. She brought the Swedish superband Tonbruket into the studio who have performed with her for a number of years. Tonbruket are out with the new album «Forevergreens" and were awarded a Swedish Grammy in the class of «Jazz of the Year» for their third album so far.
Ane Brun was nominated for the Spellemann prize as this year´s solo pop artist with this new record in January and has already won the same prize as female artist of the year, as well as having been nominated in various categories. She won a Spellemann for hit of the year ”Lift Me” with the band Madrugada in 2005.
Amongst the high points in her career she has collaborated with the legend Peter Gabriel who toured with Brun in 2011. She recieved a prestigious task as she sang the duet ”Don´t give up”; a hit previously for Gabriel and Kate Bush from the 1980´s. Her debut came with ”Spending Time With Morgan” in 2003. Ane Brun performed at the Arctic Arts Festival in 2007.
