World class musical virtuosi, renowned for their interpretations of russian gypsy music! Loyko´s performances are explosive, intricate and impossibly fast!
The trio consists of violinists Sergei Erdenko, Artur Gorbenko and guitarist Michael Savitsjev.
Loyko has existed in various forms since 1990, but always with Sergei Erdenko as anchorman. The group has collaborated with world famous artists from diverse backgrounds. We can mention Yehudi Menuhin, Ravi Shankar, Stephan Grappelli and Gideon Kremer. They have appeared at numerous large festivals and held concerts across the world, released 14 albums and 1 film.
The trio´s silver jubilee was marked by extensive touring around Russia, Europa, India and the USA.
Anchorman Sergei Erdenko´s family have been musicians for generations. His grandfather, professor Mike Erdenko studied at the University of Moscow and was a close friend of Leo Tolstoi. Tolstoi was the russian author of "Anna Karenina" presented in a theatre production at the festival.
Violinist Artur Gorbenko joined Loyko in 2011 because of its long and distinguished record of working with improvised gypsy music.
The experimental guitarist Michael Savichev compliments the present line-up with his background in spanish flamenco, and gypsy tradition.
NB. We draw attention to this year´s discount theme packages. Tickets for Loyko are included in "Musikk fra øst i Europa". This package costs 900,- kroner and gains entry to 5 concerts.
