Artist/arena host
As an artist host, you are our representative and contact for the artist from arrival to departure. If you are solution-oriented, friendly and enjoy interacting with different types of people, this is perfect for you. As an artist host, you can be an important contributor to a great stay for the artist and their crew. It is nice if you are also multilingual, as we also have international artists visiting.
Ticket sales
Ticket sellers, together with audience hosts, are the public face of the Festival. They are responsible for door sales and ticket control at all events, and this is an important role in meeting our audience. This is suitable for someone who is friendly and enjoys talking to people, but can also set boundaries where necessary. Ticket sellers must be prepared to answer questions from the audience, and it is a good idea for you to familiarize yourself with the program and the different arenas. You will receive training in settlement procedures after each event.
Catering
Are you a happy person with a good mood, who can hold a knife and cut some food without cutting yourself? Can you drive a car and are reasonably fast in sneakers? Can you carry some smoothie glasses down a flight of stairs and deliver them to a destination? Can you laugh at jokes about food or other things? Do you like to taste good cheeses, sausages, chocolate or fruit? Do you want to help create a good catering team, for both artists and volunteers during the Northern Norway Festival? Then you are the right person for this department. Ps: you don't need to be able to cook, that's what others do for us.
Rig/runner
The best way to have an action-packed week with us is to be with our setup manager on arena work with rigging, decoration, preparation, relaxation and a good atmosphere. Most people can do this type of job, but a bad back or injured arm can be a challenge. As a volunteer here, you get to be in the middle of the festival circus, make sure the arenas are ready for the artists - and really feel the festival atmosphere on your pulse.
Audience hosting
Audience hosting is, together with ticket sellers, the Festival's face to the audience. As an audience hosting, you oversee security and admission of the audience and you will be responsible for arena hosting at each event. You usually show up an hour before the event and help prepare the arena, in addition to simple cleaning up after the event. It is also important to familiarize yourself with the Festival's program, as a host may receive questions from the audience. Otherwise, this is often a perfect job if you want to catch up on what is happening on stage at the same time!
Security and security
During our events, there may be a need for extra security and someone who takes special care of security. These people will be part of the audience hosting team, and ensure that the audience has a safe and enjoyable festival experience. If you have a first aid course or other background and experience in safety, this is a plus.
Festspillbutikken
Apply here if you are outgoing and cheerful, like talking to people and want to work in the festival shop in the city center. The tasks will include selling merch, helping with information dissemination and a good atmosphere during the day. A great job for someone who is tidy, positive and likes to work with the audience!
Transport
As a driver, you are an important part of the festival logistics. The drivers have many exciting and varied tasks, and it is a plus if you can also help with unloading luggage, carrying instruments and the like. Since the transport service is an important part of the logistics, you must be punctual and precise, and most importantly, you must be a safe driver.
Working with youth
Here we are looking for confident and good adults who can contribute to making NUK and the Youth Festival a great experience for all participants. The assignment is to provide practical arrangements, and contribute to joy and motivation and a safe environment for the young people who participate. We especially appreciate adults who have experience working with children and youth in these roles.
Photographer
Every year we have photographers from Harstad Fotoklubb with us to document the festival. If you have photography experience and the right equipment for the job, and want to get up close and personal with the performers at the festival.
