Comic Book Workshop (NO)

– designed for children aged 6 to 9

Comic Book Workshop (NO)

How does an idea become a comic? In this workshop, you can try it for yourself. Together with artist and educator Lena Bergstad, participants will create their own short comic – from the first sketch to the finished story.

Over the course of two creative hours, you will learn basic techniques used by comic artists. We will explore how framing and perspective can bring a scene to life, and how small details can make a character clear and recognisable.

You will work practically throughout: drawing, testing ideas and putting together a short story in comic book format. The workshop is suitable both for beginners and for those who already enjoy drawing.

Make your own comic book badge

Once the comic begins to take shape, participants will also make their own comic book badge – a small memento from the workshop to take home.

A safe and creative setting

The course is led by Lena Bergstad, chair of Harstad Kunstforening. She also heads the ceramics department and is behind Mandagskunsten, a popular low-threshold initiative where both children and adults can drop in to create, explore and try out new artistic expressions in an inclusive environment.

In the comic book workshop, she brings the same open and supportive approach, where the most important thing is daring to have a go.

This workshop is for you if you:

  • want to make your own comic
  • enjoy drawing or would like to try something creative
  • want to take part in a practical and informal art workshop
