From sketch to wall – rooted in hip hop culture
How do you develop your own style? How can an idea become a visual work? In this workshop, we will work with both sketches and finished expressions. You will learn basic techniques, while also having the freedom to experiment and find your own personal visual language.
Graffiti and street art are not only about aesthetics – they are also about identity, belonging and the right to express yourself creatively. Inspired by the roots and values of hip hop culture, we will explore art that can be personal, socially engaged, playful and powerful. Graffiti is one of the four elements of hip hop culture. In this culture, the aim is not to become the same as everyone else, but to develop your own style while also being part of a community.
Throughout the week, you will not only learn technique, but also experience how art can build confidence, collaboration and respect. We lift each other up, inspire each other and celebrate the unique expression each person brings into the room.
Level
You do not need any previous experience to sign up. The workshop is suitable both for those who have never tried graffiti before, and for those who already draw or work visually. Tasks will be adapted to your level, and the instructors will focus on creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone, where everyone has the opportunity to develop. You can write about your experience in the application form.
