Sisters for Eternity (2025) is the final part of the trilogy by the sisters and dance artists Anne Katrine and Liv Hanne Haugen. Over three decades, they have explored sisterhood and intimate relationships through the performances Sisters (2003) and Sisters 11 Years (2014). Now they complete the project with a deepened exploration of attachment, authenticity and carrying a legacy forward.
This time, the point of departure is the paternal line and two life-altering events within their immediate family. How do we cope with loss and the grief it may bring? How are longstanding family patterns and traumas passed down through the generations?
Dance, text, documentary film material and installation are central elements in an honest and personal performance about sisterhood and belonging.
Three decades of a shared project
Anne Katrine and Liv Hanne Haugen trained as dancers in London, Brussels and Rotterdam. Both are graduates of the London Contemporary Dance School and have worked with companies in Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2003, they established Haugen Produksjoner in connection with their first joint performance. Sisters was performed 180 times and toured nationally through Riksteatret and The Cultural Schoolbag.
Today, they run Haugen Produksjoner from Tromsø. Their artistic expression is characterised by a blend of documentary and fiction, a spirit of rebellion and abstract dance, as well as a clear grounding in Northern Norwegian identity. Inclusive working processes and cross-disciplinary collaborations are central to their practice.
With a curiosity about the present moment and a desire to remain in motion alongside others, they now conclude their trilogy on sisterhood and close relationships.
