UiT-stipend: mythCORE (NO)

What happens when art moves into the town – and you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a living role-play? mythCORE is a three-day site-specific art project in which Harstad becomes the stage for an unfolding drama about lost knowledge, myths and play. The project has been developed with support from the UiT Grant.

During the True Northern Arts Festival, from 23 to 25 June 2026, audiences may encounter mysterious characters in the urban space: in the street, in nature, at the festival, in passing. They are participants in a kind of conference on lost knowledge – and they are always in character. This is Live Action Role Play (LARP), but also performance art and urban intervention, deliberately blurring the boundaries between art, play and everyday life.

A story shaped in the moment

mythCORE does not have a fixed script. The narrative arises in the encounters between the characters, the audience and the town itself. Some situations are open and visible, others small and intimate. You can choose to observe from a distance – or allow yourself to be gently drawn into conversations that awaken your curiosity. Nothing is forced, and there is no “right” way to take part.

Mythology, the internet and nature mysticism in the town

The project explores how play can function as a method for artistic exploration. Here, mythology, internet culture and nature mysticism meet, placed in the middle of the modern urban space. The result is a quiet but charged experience that may change the way you look at both your surroundings and the role you yourself play within them.

Play, art and new voices

Behind mythCORE is artist Ingeborg Wie Henriksen, who is studying for a Master’s in Art at the University of Tromsø. She is known for interactive projects in which art and life flow into one another, and where audiences do not merely observe, but become part of the work.
