Get ready for party night at Nordic with catchy rhythmic soul. ”The band called Oh!” has enjoyed glowing write-ups from the word go. Geir Rakvaag from Dagsavisen has even crowned them Norway´s finest new soulband.
Oh! Is one of the region´s hippest young bands, and has attracted alot of attention since their debut in 2011. Their influences include Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, Erykah Badu, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and they are known for their special, international sound. Oh! describe their music as neosoul, bringing in elements from jazz, funk, hip hop, pop and african music. It was a common passion for afro-american music which led to the group taking up studies in Tromsø.
The band has already racked up a 100 concerts stretching from Finnmark in the north to Spain in the south, and several songs have made it on to NRK P3. In march 2014 they released their first album, «Stereosoul», which was nominated for Norway´s Spellemannprisen. The record is a tribute to 90´s soul and is produced both by the band and Harstad´s very own Poppa Lars.
- The production embraces classic soul, yet places it in a contemporary context by dint of fine attention to detail, and Frode Larsen´s tender, unique voice would cause many a garden to burst into flower. Olaf Øwre, Troms Folkeblad.
- … an international sound that brings everything from Frank Ocean to Soulive back to mind, Aftenposten.
- Oh! Impress with warm soul from the cold north. NRK P3.
Coolly bewitching and effortlessly hip, - don´t be left out when the party at Nordic Hall starts swinging!
