When Mette Henriette comes to Harstad kino with a band and the world premiere of a new performance, you want to make sure you don't miss out.
Mette Henriette is known for music that is both composed and improvised at the intersection of jazz, classical and contemporary music, and will in this performance create a unique expression where also light design, movement and scenography contribute to creating what we believe will be an extraordinary performance.
This initial staging of Mette Henriette’s new stage piece is the first in a series of unique performances. Ilmmis is a continuously changing stage piece created in symbiotic collaboration between artists of different crafts. It is a reflection on the artist's connection to Sami philosophy. Each performance of Ilmmis will be one of a kind.
Mette Henriette is a Norwegian-Sami saxophonist and composer with an impressive list of world-renowned artists she has collaborated with. In addition to our Icelandic festival artist Valgeir Sigurdsson, she has also collaborated with Nicolas Jaar, Jo Strømgren and has participated in two projects by the legendary performance artist Marina Abramovic. She has also composed commissioned works for the Oslo Philharminic, a solo performance for documenta14 and a commissioned work for Cikada.
Co-commissioners include Manchester International Festival, Ultima, Festspillene i Nord-Norge, Silencio and the Munch museum.
