Join us when SISU, one of Scandinavia's leading percussion ensembles, join forces with the Norwegian Army Band and presents nothing less than a unique musical journey.
The percussion trio SISU and the Norwegian Army Band take you to Afghanistan, more specifically in the Pashtun culture, where you live by three main principles: Melmastya; the good hosts, Nanawatai; grace or giving protection and shelter, even to your worst enemy and Badal; justice and revenge.
Already in 1984, Håkon Berge composed the musical work Nanawatai, and has been on a long journey before it now appears as a concert piece for the three percussion soloists in SISU and wind ensemble with a new title: Nanawatai Two.
Conductor Magnus Loddgard has written two works especially for the occasion which deal with the other two principles Melmastya and Badal, which are premiered at the concert. We let Geirr Tveitt's "Welcome with the era" encircle the unknown from a foreign culture and that well-known works will support the moods each of the principles gives.
