A northern Norwegian coastal town on a collision course with investor capital and cryptocurrency.
Trygve Luktvasslimo's feature film debut Bitcoinbilen is a captivating musical about the northern Norwegian coastal farmer Gloria, her cute little goats and their new neighbor: a colossal data center that will mine bitcoin.
Little brother Lukas comes home for summer vacation on the same day that the new crypto mine officially opens. On his way home from the airport, he is shocked to discover that they have placed the bitcoin facility on top of the cemetery. So where have they moved the graves of Lukas and Gloria's parents? And wait - why haven't the villagers protested?
Strange things begin to happen, the bathing temperature in the sea rises to an impossible 28 degrees, wrinkled fish float ashore and they find a dead goat in the forest. It turns out that the wealthy investor Rita from Bodø has some even darker plans than mining bitcoin, and for that she needs to vacuum the regional power grid for all the electricity that can be generated.
