"Together they are dynamite", wrote Harstad Tidende after Hildá & Tuomas' performance at Márkomannu last year. The duo's soundscape is based on Hildá Länsman's airy, humming, growling and translucent vocal sounds in the face of Tuomas' dense electronics and samples.
Critically acclaimed Hildá Länsman from Utsjok in Northern Finland is a champion of the joik tradition and known as a strong music interpreter, composer, lyricist and award-winning musician.
Her musical style combines traditional and modern elements, performed by a unique, ethereal and clear voice. She is a leading figure in several critically acclaimed Sami music groups: Solju, VILDÁ, Gájanas - and in the duo with Tuomas Norvio.
Sound designer and artist Finnish Tuomas Norvio works as a sound designer, composer, musician and producer - both on stage and in the studio. He has worked with a number of artists, including Kimmo Pojhonen, who has previously visited Festspillene.
Art and technology
Hildá & Tuomas are an example of how technology can be used as a tool to create new and interesting art experiences. Their work shows how art and technology can act as a catalyst for exploring and understanding our world in new ways.
