Niilas has received spectacular reviews in addition to being awarded the Spellemann, The Norwegian Music award for the year's best album in the Elektronika category - and is coming to Festspillene for a club night in Sentralen.
Niilas is the stage name of Peder Niilas Tårnesvik, one of the most interesting new electronic artists and producers we have in Norway.
Best of the year and player award His debut album "Also This Will Change" was for many 2020's best Norwegian electronic album. The critics gave him spectacular reviews and rolled sixes on the dice. Niilas was also awarded with Spellemann for the year's best album in the category Elektronika.
Sami background
On the record, Niilas explored organic and changing soundscapes with elements of acoustic instruments, samples and drips from his Sami background. He handled the production himself and the record is filled to the brim with hypnotic beats, deep bass, catchy melody lines and innovative electronic textures.
Genre mix
Niilas has an ear for details like few others, where he mixes genres, expressions and musical emotions in his very own soundscape. On his latest project, the album "Stone Skipping" from 2022, for example, joik meets Iranian string instruments and analogue synths.
Arctic blanket and deep bass He uses his own recordings, samples, live and digital instruments, and creates a sparkling carpet of sound. He is known for energetic, cross-genre concerts, where the audience is taken on a musical journey through field recordings from the Arctic in harmony with deep bass.
