Premiere - open call
Transformation Through Art: Abundance is a project that challenges the consumer society by finding new value in what we regard as waste.
The artists Liv Hanne Haugen and Lawrence Malstaf with different artists and neighbors, invite the audience to a weaving of a utopian network of reused materials.
Supported by Festspillene i Nord-Norge’s Open Call program with Róise Goan as mentor, "Abundance" symbolizes the community's power to create change. Here, art offers us new perspectives on unity and sustainability.
The ensemble has collected a pile of broken snow plow sticks, bottles, and other future microplastics. In an old car workshop behind Harstad Kulturhus, everything is melted down into new twisted pipes and colorful branches that can be clipped together. It's the building material for a collective performance where the audience is invited to build a large utopian jungle. Once the construction fills the room, it becomes the arena for 'Radio Skogen'.
Abundance is an attempt to see new values in the materials and people around us, an attempt to shift focus from scarcity to abundance, an attempt to protect nature, bit by bit.
By and with the audience and several neighbors from Radio Skogen in Tromsø, with support from Festspillene i Nord-Norge, Tromsø Municipality, Troms County, Planet A.
