If you haven't heard Mall Girl before, you can expect to be surprised and delighted when they take the stage at Nordic Hall on June 23rd!
The band is known for their energetic live shows and catchy music, and they are described as one of Norway's most exciting young pop bands.
Live, this band is a big eclectic indie party. A young and exciting band known for their energetic live shows and catchy music, with a good mix of energy, closeness, and at least 5 different time signatures. Their inspirations range from 80s pop through noise and math rock to indie – and everything is tied together by a playful expression and a liberating attitude towards music production.
Pop music with tapping and drums
Mall Girl has been thrown a bunch of genres; math pop, pink Pom Poko, time signature disco... Behind the term math pop, you find a bit of jazz, a bit of indie, a bit of noise, and quite a lot of unpredictability. What all this means might make one wonder, but you can at least expect pop music with tapping and drums. And speaking of drums: behind the drum set in Mall Girl, you'll find none other than Veslemøy Narvesen, who is referred to as "the new super-drummer" that "everyone" wants to play with! She is described as a musical powerhouse and a rare talent with a beautiful beat. Mall Girl exploits the contrast between the hard guitar lines and drums against the velvety soft and warm vocals of Bethany Forseth-Reichberg.
Mall Girl has previously played at festivals like Øyafestivalen and Roskilde, and in 2022 they released their debut album Superstar. Since their first single Slay Queen from 2018, they have had a unique ability to surprise, and they came out with the album "Pure Love" in 2024.
Mall Girl is part of the alternative pop scene in Oslo, which revolves around bands like Fieh and Tigerstate. Since their start, and especially with their latest releases, Mall Girl positions themselves as one of the most exciting pop bands out there.
