What happens when seven songwriters take the pulse of the new North Norway, let the clichés rest, and instead find new words and stories about life and development in the north?
The project "The New North" has brought together artists Moddi, Lars Bremnes, Ingvild Austgulen, Frode Larsen, Risten Anine Gaup, Emil Kárlsen, and Jon-Are Masternes (KLISH), allowing each of them to individually visit various parts of the region to gather impressions, expressions, and inspiration for new music.
Now, the threads are being gathered – and the songs are being brought together.
The idea for the project comes from the artist Moddi, with the desire to create music unaffected by the nostalgic veil that often overlays poetry here in the north.
Through genres such as rap, ballads, and joik, the artists will present new songs in this unique project, about what is now and what is to come.
"The New North" is a collaborative project between Moddi, Nordland County Library, public libraries in Nordland, Bodø 2024, and the Festspillene i Nord-Norge (The Arctic Arts Festival).
