On June 24, 2024, the occult, feminist black metal band Witch Club Satan will take over the Nordic Hall. Last time they visited Harstad, they played to a sold-out audience and received rave reviews.
Witch Club Satan is a shining example of how the Arctic Arts Festival serves as a catalyst to bring Northern Norwegian artists and performers into the spotlight and out into the world. The Arctic Arts Festival acted as a co-producer and connected Jørn Stubberud/Necrobutcher from Mayhem as a mentor for Lost and Found Productions in the creation of Witch Club Satan. The premiere filled the Støperiet in Harstad during the Arctic Arts Festival in 2022 and received rave reviews afterward.
The feminist black metal band has quickly become one of the most talked-about and controversial bands in Norwegian rock music after the premiere, attracting attention both in Norway and internationally with their theatrical concerts featuring witch rituals, nudity, blood, and extreme black metal.
Witch Club Satan, consisting of Nikoline Spjelkavik on guitar, Victoria Røising on bass, and Johanna Holt Kleive on drums, stunned the entire music industry with their first concert in Oslo's Revolver basement in the fall of 2022. The trio's debut concert was hailed as one of the highlights of the Øya Festival by renowned publications like NME and Rolling Stone Magazine, and since then, they have been on an upward trajectory that many Norwegian bands can only dream of. The band is now regarded as one of the world's fastest-growing metal bands and has already performed at prestigious festivals such as Øya, Ultima, Roskilde, and Tons of Rock. Their performance at Tons of Rock was recently nominated for the Oslo Prize by Natt & Dag.
On March 8, International Women's Day, the trio releases their highly anticipated debut album, which serves as a manifesto of feminine power and will be pressed in a limited edition of 666 exclusive LPs. They will thus present brand new songs when they visit Harstad in June.
The album was recorded at Anders Odden's studio (Celtic Frost, Satyricon, Cadaver), a legend in the metal genre. Odden is also a co-producer on the album, along with Vetle Junker (Aurora, Sondre Lerche) and Sindre Nicolaisen.
Odden describes Witch Club Satan as one of the most interesting black metal bands to emerge in the last thirty years, with hardworking musicians who know what they want to achieve with their music and art.
