Day 3: 26 June 2026 // 11:00–14:00 // 2 hrs indoors, 1 hr exhibition
Together with researchers from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, children are invited to discover art in urban spaces and use their imagination in their own creative processes.
The workshop takes as its starting point the artwork Engleflokk by Herleik Kristiansen, located by the entrance to Harstad Harbour. First, participants will go on a short outdoor discovery walk to look at art in the local area, with a particular focus on Engleflokk. We will talk about what we see, and how art can be experienced in the urban environment.
Afterwards, the group will gather indoors, where the children will make their own collages and small artworks inspired by what they have seen. We will work with different materials – such as paper, recycled materials, papier-mâché or quick-drying clay. The workshop is led by Susanne Sakariassen, PhD fellow at UiT, and several adults from UiT will be present throughout the workshop.
On the final day, the workshop ends with a small exhibition of the children’s own works.
Children can take part on all three days, or just one or two of them. Please bring a packed lunch.
