Workshop with Kvääninuoret – Kvenungdommen (KV/NO)

Take part in an open workshop with Kven crafts and creative reuse.

Together with Kvääninuoret – Kvenungdommen, audiences are invited to a day where you can try traditional techniques and make something of your own by hand. Throughout the day, you can take part in rigid heddle weaving, an old weaving technique used for items such as kommagbånd. Here, you will learn the basic technique and make your own band – or a keyring. The workshop lasts up to five hours, but you can take part for as long as you like within the time frame.

In addition, there will be drop-in upcycling design, where we will work with textile printing on reused materials. Here, you can print Kven words and expressions onto textiles and create something personal to take home with you.

No prior experience is needed – there is room here both for curious beginners and for those who already enjoy handicrafts. The workshop is open throughout the entire event, and you can come and go along the way.
