If you were an animal, what would you be? Have you ever wondered whether the person fixing your internet is actually a dog? And when do you really know that you are completely yourself?
There are things you can lose without anyone noticing. Patience. Hair. Teeth. Your voice is not one of them. When Jan Ivar lost his, everything else began to speak.
A journey with no cancellation option
You’re Not Yourself! is a performance about the fear of ruining the life you have built, and about realising that perhaps you have not been entirely honest – either with yourself or with the people around you.
With equal parts seriousness and self-irony, Jan Ivar tells the story of how losing his voice became the beginning of something unexpected. A journey that took him through several worlds: his own sexuality, suppressed truths, difficult conversations – and into the surprising world of Furries.
Along the way, questions arise: How many dogs actually work in IT? Can you be bisexual and still be married? And what on earth does any of this have to do with the voice?
This is a performance with pulse, pop music and fur. About losing yourself, and about finally beginning to listen.
This performance is for you if you:
- like personal stories told with humour and seriousness
- are curious about identity, honesty and self-discovery
- want to experience performing arts that both surprise and hit home
The performance is part of the development programme Iscenesatt, supported by Talent Norge, SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge and Troms Holding.
