Tedi Spalato is a big name back home in Croatia, and is loved for his beautiful tunes and the finesse of his guitar playing. We can offer our audience a delightful breathing space at Galleri NordNorge, with the possibility of being carried away to romantic dusks along the Adriatic coast.
Tedi is famous for his poetic songs from the region of Dalmatia. He sings of enchanting short stories, of love of the homeland, and accompanies these words with exceptional guitar playing.
You could imagine meeting Tedi singing amidst the narrow cobblestoned streets of Dalmatia. Throughout his career he has remained faithful to the land of his upbringing. For his fans he has become synonymous with the region and a source of enduring pride.
He grew up in a family boasting several amateur musicians and began guitar playing in early life. Tedi started his career within the Dalmatian tradition of a capella singing known as klapa. He moved on to become a member of the Anima ensemble where he learnt african-american spirituals and jazz, and he subsequently joined the band ”More”. Since 1985 he has been a solo artist and has graced countless festivals both at home and abroad, returning home each summer to the Split Music Festival.
Spalato has won numerous festival awards and two Porin-prizes, Croatia´s most prestigious music award.
