In the concert Meantime Lifetime Benjamin Mørk will foreground his more jazz influenced and acoustic side; a little less wired than the music we are hearing from him today. Meet the electronica artist and festival profile, behind both the piano and synthesizer.
We are all set for a melodic hybrid evening with Mørk´s minimalistic jazz coloured with a touch of electronica, rock and classical music. It is a year since Benjamin Mørk released the album ”Meantime Lifetime” which has been described as ”crossover jazz”. He rarely performs this part of his oeuvre live and this will be an exclusive insight into the electronica artist´s soul, both behind the grand piano and synth.
The piano based jazz quartet MØRK are the authors of two brilliant jazz albums which were followed up by Benjamin Mørk´s solo album ”Disco in Odd Times”. MØRK first released ”Karasho” in 2013 and subsequently ”Meantime Lifetime” in February last year.
The Norwegian pianist and composer comes originally from Senja but is based presently in Tromsø. Mørk´s musical inspirations stem from the Swedish pianist Esbjörn Svensson´s Trio, Nils Petter Molvær, Motorpsycho, Deep Purple, the German electronica pioneers Kraftwerk and old time Americana. Meantime Lifetime, is regarded as more experimental than the earlier records with heavier electronic textures.
Benjamin Mørk is one of the country´s most exciting and creative musicians in electronic and acoustic music. He has conjured up a catchy and alternative universe. This master of melody charts gripping stories without words vis a vis his keyboards.
