The overwhelming forces of the Norwegian maelstrom "Moskenesstraumen" inspired Edgar Allan Poe to write "Decent into the Maelstrom" in the 1800s. Almost 150 years later, world-renowned composer Philip Glass was inspired by the novel and composed Maelstrom as a commissioned work for Adelaide Festival in 1986.
The Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra premieres now a magnificent version for philharmonic orchestra. The work consists of philharmonic orchestra, synthesizers and vocals.
The Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra will play under the leadership of conductor Tim Weiss, soprano Berit Norbakken Solset will sing and Øystein Moen from Jaga Jazzist will play synthesizer.
With a visual backdrop of Bodo artist Martin Losvik, it is made ready for a beautiful and dramatic journey into the maelstrom.
NOSO presents with full philharmonic orchestra, contributing list to being updated.
