Frida loves the circus and refuses to give up on her dream, even though her career has had its setbacks. All her memories from circus life are stored away down in the basement. Each time she goes there, she dreams herself back to her glory days in the ring.
But among the memories, Antero also appears. The grumpy puppet man represents Frida’s inner voice – the voice that keeps telling her she is not good enough, not talented enough, and that she will never manage it.
A battle with the inner voice
In the basement, a battle unfolds between Frida and Antero. Will she manage to believe in herself again and find her way back to the circus?
The performance is a whimsical blend of puppetry and circus. Audiences will encounter juggling, unicycling, shadow theatre and small glimpses of silent film, accompanied by the tones of a slightly sour accordion. The music has been specially composed by Steinar Raknes.
Cirkus Antero is an imaginative and moving story about courage, dreams and daring to believe in yourself – even when it feels like there is a proper circus going on inside your head.
