Taking as its starting point the Scanian folk band Hialøsa’s interpretations of old Scanian “pop music”, the performance moves between control and chaos. National romantic aesthetics are brought into play, and tradition is stretched, twisted and given new life on stage.
Eight artists fill the stage with violins, double bass, vocals, synth, acrobatics, trapeze, rope and hair suspension. Together, they create an energetic concert circus in which music and body drive each other forwards, and traditional dance forms are challenged by new movements.

A Scandinavian celebration
Cirqus Hialøs is described as a “pseudo-authentic Scanian celebration” – more faithful to tradition than tradition itself. The performance moves between life, dance and death, allowing music, physical force and scenic energy to explore what can arise when different art forms meet.
Behind the project is the artist collective ENT, which creates performances at the intersection of traditional music and contemporary circus. The ensemble has worked and performed all over the world, developing each work through open and exploratory collaborative processes.
This performance is for you if you:
- like circus, folk music and high-energy stage art
- are curious about tradition being brought into play in new ways
- want to experience an energetic performance where music and acrobatics meet
