The Moontwins came about when Keränen, after several decades in the rock band 22-Pistepirkko, wanted to explore new musical directions. The result was an unexpected collaboration with Lautamaja, an award-winning folk musician and diatonic accordionist from a younger generation.
Their debut album Night Times was released in 2025 and warmly received in Finland. The music moves freely between garage rock, alternative pop and Nordic folk tones.
An encounter with the north
At the True Northern Arts Festival, the duo will be joined by Northern Norwegian musician Håvard Lund on bass clarinet. Lund brings tonal nuances and improvisational force that open the music in new directions. The collaboration grew out of meetings and musical conversations on the island of Fleinvær, where several of the songs were also written.
Together, the trio creates a soundscape where rock, folk and improvisation meet – raw, playful and energetic.
This concert is for you if you:
- like alternative pop and garage rock
- are curious about encounters between folk and rock
- want to experience an unusual and richly textured trio format
