AIŌN, by composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir and choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir will open the Festspillene i Nord Norge in June 2020. This spectacular work will be performed by the Iceland Dance Company in collaboration with the Norwegian Arctic Philharmonic and under the direction of Anna Maria Helsing who conducted the acclaimed premiere in Gothenburg last May.

The industrial venue Støperiet will be one of the most important stages during this years' Arctic Arts Festival. Festival profile KLISH in a Verdde Session with punkband ONDT BLOD, the Russian electronica band Oligarkh, and Icelandic Agent Fresco are three of the concerts the festival audience can look forward to this year.

Tickets are now awailable for two major performances during this year's Arctic Arts Festival. The Norwegian band Highasakite plays on Wednesday, June 26, and the highly acclaimed performance «The Road is Just a Surface» by musician Anja Garbarek and choreographer Jo Strømgren is scheduled for Thursday, June 27.

In connection with the Sami National day February 6, the Arctic Arts Festival presents two artists who each will have significant roles in this year's festival. The South Sami visual artist Carola Grahn will curate this year's festival exhibition, and last year's audience favorite, Timimie Märak, is the festival's second festival profile for 2019.

The highly profiled and internationally renowned cultural leader and producer Ragnheiður Skúladóttir is today employed by the board of the Arctic Arts Festival in Harstad, Northern Norway as the new director. Skúladóttir is currently the managing director of Iceland Dance Company, and artistic director of the international theater festival LÓKAL in Reykjavík.
