Puolanka Pessimism Association – fra byen Puolanka i Finland og kjent utover egne landegrenser for sin særegne pessimis- tiske merkevarebygging, åpner Festspillutstillingen med en musikalsk aktivering av sitt kunstverk Puolanka eksisterer. 

The Puolanka Pessimism Association from the town of Puolanka, Finland, has become famous for its particular brand of pessimism. The group will open the exhibition with a musical activation of their artwork Puolanka eksisterer (Puolanka Exists).

John Andrew Wilhite Hannisdal & Rebekah Oomen 

Marinbiolog Rebekah Oomen presenterer det pågående forsk- ningssamarbeidet Torsketromming, sentral i utviklingen av installasjonen Dialects of the Deep av kunstnerne Anastasia Savinova og John Andrew Wilhite-Hannisdal. 

Evolutionary ecologist Rebekah Oomen will present a scientif- ic lecture connected to the current collaborative work and re- search being done collectively by the group Torsketromming. The research project has been an important context for the in- stallation Dialects of the Deep by artists Anastasia Savinova and John Andrew Wilhite-Hannisdal.

Kunstneren 1999Q presenterer et hørespill om de søte minnene fra en voksen innbygger i en industriell monotown langt nord. Tekst blandes med feltopptak i en performativ bekjennelse over flere kapitler hvor elektronisk musikk forsterker den kvalmende smaken av brent sukker.

The visual artist 1999Q presents a radio play about the sweet memories of a grown-up resident of an industrial monotown in the Far North. It is a performative confession in several chapters, where text is mixed with field recordings, and modular synths intensify the nauseating taste of burnt sugar.

Espen Sommer Eide 

Konserten og arkivprosjektet bygger videre på Sommer Eides verk Arkadia 02-22, utformet i samarbeid med andre kunstnere, med bruk av markinlæring (kunstig intelligens) som trener opp en modell av lyden som genererer lyd. I et fravær av musikere, “drømmer” maskinlæringen fram ny lyd.

The concert and archive project builds on Sommer Eide ́s art- work Arkadia 02-22, shaped in collaboration with other artists. By using machine learning (artificial intelligence) technology, a model of the sound is trained to generate new sound. In the ab- sence of musicians, the machine learning “dreams” new sounds.

17:00 Performance: ALAIAQ 

ALAIAQ er et multikunstnerisk verk bestående av kroppsbev- egelse, lyd og landskap. Det er en strøm som multipliserer, dupliserer, inviterer og divergerer. I verket åpner sjonglering, musikk, lyd- og lysdesign og joik opp nye lag av hverandre. Verket, som kombinerer musikk og sirkuskunst, ble bestilt av Kittilä-baserte Silence Organisation. 

Medvirkende: Ailu Valle, Aleksi Niittyvuopio, Lauri Uusitalo og Jukka Huitila. 

ALAIAQ is a multi-artistic work consisting of movement, sound and landscape. It is a flow that multiplies, duplicates, invites and diverges. In the work, juggling, music, sound and light design, and yoik opens up new layers of each other. The work, which combines music and circus art, was commissioned by the Kittilä-based Silence Organisation. 

Featuring: Ailu Valle, Aleksi Niittyvuopio, Lauri Uusitalo, and Jukka Huitila.

KVAE OG BARK 

I sin installasjon Felles jord, delt bord vil KVAE & BARK orkestrere et måltid basert på råvarer fra byen, skogen og fjæra. Publikum får plass langs et langbord i brent tre og ønskes velkommen til en opplevelse for hele kroppen.

In their installation Felles jord, delt bord, KVAE & BARK will or- chestrate a meal based on ingredients from the city, the forest and the shoreline. The audience will be seated along a custom made table made from burnt wood and will be welcomed to an experience that can touch all of the senses.
